Hélène Bleuzen does not come from an agricultural background.  She grew up in Paris until leaving to pursue oenology studies in Bordeaux at the age of 22, obtaining her degree in 2014. In the years following, she held jobs that exposed her to all aspects of wine production and business, large and small. She worked with Jean-Claude Boisset in Chablis, spent a year in South Africa on a small family farm, another at an organic estate in the southern Rhône, and then two years as cellar manager at Domaine de Saint Prefert in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It was during this time that she met François Busi, a winemaker from Caseneuve, a small village about an hour to the southeast situated on an isolated hilltop in the Ventoux appellation. She moved there in 2017 to pursue her dream of making wines under her own label, leasing two and half hectares of old Grenache vines and also working with a hectare and a half of Syrah that François made available for her use. She released her first vintage in 2018. The vineyards, certified organic, benefit from the microclimate created by the surrounding mountains. Her Le Clos bottling is a blend of 85% Grenache, 15% Syrah; Le Devens is 100% Syrah. Both are in the Côtes du Ventoux appellation.
