La Petite Odyssée

Year Established: 2018
Location: Toulouse, Haute Garonne
Size: 8 hectares
Varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Abouriou, Syrah
Viticulture: Biodynamic

In 2018, Antoine Bernardin began farming eight hectares in the Haute Garonne region of southwestern France. He immediately began converting the vineyards to biodynamic viticulture, and has worked diligently to preserve the indigenous local variety of Abouriou. Antoine’s viticulture is conservationist, with permanent natural cover crops between the rows and limited light plowing just under the vines. The vines are planted on Garonne terraces with soils of alluvial pebbles eroded from the Pyrenees (granite, schist, sandstone, quartz…) The vineyards are exclusively harvested by hand. Fermentations are natural, with light foot crushing and a minimal addition of sulfur at bottling.
