In 2010, Silvia Giani took over the certified organic vineyard property that her parents had established in 1973, and they continue to tend the vines together. In 2019 she began production of her own wines with a name created to honor two cherished family members: her beloved grandmother Emilia, and Pennac – who was a very good dog. Silvia vinifies in a tiny cellar on her parents’ property, in smallish tanks made of fiberglass, steel, and cement. She resides in the nearby Castello di Stefanago – she’s married to Jacopo Baruffaldi, son of Giacomo. (The two of them are tons of fun together!) She produces two frizzante wines – CRm Bianco, a blend of Cortese, Riesling Renano and Moscato, and PgC Rosato, made from Pinot Grigio and Cortese. Her still wines are Fresh Bianco (50/50 Cortese and Riesling Renano) and Fresh Rosso, a blend of Barbera, Croatia, Uva Rara and Pinot Noir.
