In 2010, Pietro Selva along with his partner Elena took over the family vineyards in Valtellina, which is tucked into the Alps of Upper Lombardia. As is typical for the area, the vineyard holdings are fragmented – this gives Pietro the opportunity to make wine from three different Denominations of Origin: the Valtellina Superiore DOCG (sub-area Sassella), Rosso di Valtellina DOC and the Alpi Retiche IGT. The terraced vines are planted on the steep slopes of the mountains at around 500 meters above sea level. 250 total cases made per year.
